Positano sits on the Amalfi Coast, and from Salerno the Travelmar fast ferries reach it from Piazza della Concordia, the pier the company pairs with the city's railway station in its timetable. The other Salerno pier, Molo Manfredi, has no Travelmar sailings in the November calendars and is due to reopen in April 2027. The company's calendar gives the crossing as 70 minutes.
Boats run every day, public holidays included, but November is quiet. Until 15 November they leave Salerno at 08:40, 09:40, 11:10 and 14:10; from the 16th the first boat is the 09:40 and there are three a day each way. Whichever week you travel, the last boat back from Positano to Salerno leaves at 15:30, so a day trip means an early-afternoon return.
Four boats each way until 15 November, then three

Buying at the pier: be there half an hour early
On the day you can buy at the harbour ticket office, where Travelmar asks you to turn up 30 minutes before the boat, or book online. With a ticket already in hand, be at the boarding point 15 minutes before departure or the seat may go to someone else. Return tickets need the homeward sailing booked at least two hours ahead.
Salerno – Piazza della Concordia
Travelmar's timetable labels this pier "Piazza Concordia – train station". The map pin is the ferry terminal OpenStreetMap shows on Piazza della Concordia; the company gives no coordinates of its own.
Positano – ferry landing
Travelmar does not publish an address for its Positano landing. The pin marks OpenStreetMap's "Porto di Positano" and is only a rough guide to where the boats come in.
How long the trip takes, and why it varies
Travelmar's calendar puts the Salerno – Positano run at 70 minutes. From 16 November the 09:40 out of Salerno and every boat back from Positano stop at Cetara and Maiori, which the calendar stretches to 80 minutes; the booking system lists arrivals up to 110 minutes after departure on those sailings. If you have a train or a bus to catch, look at the arrival time of your own boat when you book.
Luggage, children and dogs on Travelmar's boats
- Pack light
One bag of personal belongings up to 45×35×20 cm travels free. A bigger suitcase or a second bag needs its own €3.00 luggage ticket.
- Proof of age for children
Under-2s go free without a seat, children from 2 up to their tenth birthday pay the child fare, and older children pay in full. Bring proof of age: the reduction cannot be claimed once the ticket is issued.
- Pets stay outside
Dogs need a muzzle and lead, and cats or other small pets a cage or basket. Apart from guide dogs, animals are not allowed in the passenger lounges.
- No cars
The 2026 fare list for this route covers passengers, luggage and pets only, with no fare for cars or motorbikes.
- Cancelling an online booking
Tickets bought on the website can be cancelled free of charge until midnight two days before travel; refunds are claimed with the company's form.
- Check the service status
Travelmar may cancel sailings or skip calls for technical reasons or force majeure. Its home page states each day whether the service is running normally.
Stopping at Amalfi, and the October PDF you may find online
A Salerno – Positano ticket is not valid for a stopover at Amalfi. Travelmar's FAQ says you need two tickets instead, Salerno – Amalfi at €12.00 and Amalfi – Positano at €10.00. For a full day out, the fare list offers a Salerno – Positano – Amalfi – Salerno round at €39.00, priced, as the fare list notes, as the single legs added together.
You may come across a PDF timetable on Travelmar's Download page headed "updated timetable from October 1st". It shows more afternoon sailings between Salerno and Positano, plus boats from Molo Manfredi. For 3 to 22 November 2026 none of those extra sailings appear in the calendars on the timetable page or in the booking system, and those two agree with each other, so the table here follows them. Check the calendar again for any date after 22 November.
