Is the fast boat worth the supplement? In winter you often have no choice. The winter leaflet Navigazione Lago di Como uses until 14 March 2027 lists nine weekday departures from Como to Bellagio, and seven of them are SR fast services that cost extra. Only two ordinary boats make the trip, at 09:50 and 10:50, and those run every day of the week.
On weekdays the first fast boat leaves Como's pier 3 at 07:33 and reaches Bellagio at 08:14; the last one leaves at 19:10. Heading back, the first boat from Bellagio goes at 06:42 and the last at 18:20, getting into Como at 19:00. Sundays and public holidays have five sailings each way. An adult single costs €12.00 on the ordinary boat, and the fast boats add €5.00.

Six fare stages: €12.00 by ordinary boat, €5.00 more on the fast one
Lake Como fares go by the number of stages travelled, and the official chart puts Como and Bellagio six stages apart. On an ordinary boat that makes an adult single €12.00 and €6.00 for anyone aged 4 to 11. Over-65s pay €9.60, but only Monday to Friday and on showing ID. Returns cost exactly twice the single fare.
A fast SR sailing costs the ordinary fare plus a flat €5.00 supplement, and the fare sheet says supplements are never reduced, so children pay it in full. A fast ticket only works on its date of issue and does not let you break the journey. If you would like to stop off at Tremezzo or Lenno on the way, a one-day unlimited ticket covering six stages costs €27.00, though you still pay the supplement on fast boats.

Pier 3 in Como, Piazza Mazzini in Bellagio
Leaving Como, the pier number stays the same; coming back it does not. Most boats from Bellagio arrive at pier 3, but the 07:12 weekday fast boat and the 08:16 holiday one land at pier 5, the 15:30 ordinary boat at pier 4 and the 16:20 at pier 5. If someone is meeting you, check the bottom line of the timetable table.
Como – Pier 3 (Pontile 3)
Como has several numbered landing stages, and the winter timetable prints the number above each column. Every boat to Bellagio is shown leaving from pier 3, which OpenStreetMap places on Lungo Lario Trento. Pier 2, on Lungo Lario Trieste, handles some of the short runs that stop well before Bellagio.
Bellagio – Piazza Mazzini piers
In Bellagio the Como boats tie up in Piazza Mazzini, where OpenStreetMap shows three landing stages side by side. The timetable does not say which one each sailing uses, so follow the signs and the crew. The car ferry ramp on Lungo Lario Manzoni is for the mid-lake crossings, not for this route.
Up the Como arm of the lake to the Bellagio headland
The boats head north from Como along the south-western arm of the lake to Bellagio, which sits where the water splits towards Lecco and towards Colico. Most fast sailings call at Argegno and Lezzeno, then at Lenno and Tremezzo; the 07:33 and the 17:10 from Como also stop at Menaggio before Bellagio. The two ordinary boats call at Tavernola, Cernobbio and Moltrasio. After Moltrasio the 09:50 shows no more stops until Bellagio, while the 10:50 also calls at Lenno and Tremezzo.
Things to know before you board
- No contactless on fast boats
NaviTap, the tap-in, tap-out card payment on board, cannot be used on SR sailings, nor for reduced fares, luggage or bikes. As seven of the nine weekday boats from Como are fast ones, get a ticket plus supplement from the office on the pier, ideally around 20 minutes ahead as the operator advises.
- Bikes on ordinary boats only
Fast boats do not take bicycles. In winter that leaves the 09:50 and 10:50 from Como and the 15:30 and 16:20 from Bellagio, and even then boarding depends on the vessel and on how busy it is.
- Luggage
One piece of luggage per person is carried free, up to 60 cm along its longest edge and 40 litres in volume; anything extra or larger is charged.
- Christmas and New Year
The 19:10 fast boat from Como does not run on 24 or 31 December, and the 08:16 from Bellagio is cancelled on 26 December. On 25 December and on New Year's Day the service is cut back, with times posted at the piers.
- Wheelchair users
If you use a wheelchair, ring 031 579211 or freephone 800 551801 before travelling, as the timetable leaflet recommends; the captain may restrict boarding for safety.
- Works at Lezzeno
Lezzeno, a stop for many fast boats, reopened on 30 October 2026 after pier works. The operator has announced further work and will post the dates in a separate notice, so check the notices before travelling to or from Lezzeno.
Beyond Bellagio: car ferries and the bus
Bellagio is also where the mid-lake car ferries start. If you arrive on the 12:15 fast boat from Como, landing at 13:03, you can carry on across to Varenna on the eastern shore with the Varenna–Bellagio ferry, or over to the western shore on the Cadenabbia–Bellagio ferry. Both leave from the car ferry ramp on Lungo Lario Manzoni rather than from the Piazza Mazzini piers.
There is also a road link: ASF bus C130 runs between Como and Bellagio via Nesso along the eastern side of the Como arm. ASF Autolinee publishes its timetable; it is not reproduced on this page.
Getting from Como to Bellagio: questions and answers
How late can I get back from Bellagio to Como?
Monday to Saturday it is the 18:20 fast boat, arriving in Como at 19:00. On Sundays and holidays the last one is the 17:04 fast boat, which gets in at 17:50.
Is there a boat without the fast-service supplement?
Yes, two each way every day: from Como at 09:50 and 10:50, from Bellagio at 15:30 and 16:20. They stop at more villages, so the 09:50 reaches Bellagio at 11:10 and the 10:50 at 12:35.
How much does the fast boat cost for an adult?
The six-stage ordinary fare of €12.00 plus the €5.00 SR supplement. The supplement is the same for adults and children because it has no reductions.
Can I tap my bank card on board?
Not on fast boats: NaviTap does not work on SR sailings. Get your ticket and supplement on shore; paying on the boat when the pier office was open costs €1.00 more.
Can I take a hire car from Como to Bellagio by boat?
No. This route carries foot passengers only. The car ferries only cross the central basin, linking Bellagio with Varenna and Cadenabbia and Varenna with Menaggio.
Which pier in Como do the Bellagio boats leave from?
In the winter timetable every departure for Bellagio is shown at pier 3. On the way back some boats arrive at pier 4 or 5, so check the last line of the table.
Do the boats run over Christmas and New Year?
Yes, with changes. 8 and 26 December and 6 January follow the holiday timetable, 25 December and 1 January have a reduced service posted at the piers, and a few fast boats are cancelled on 24, 26 and 31 December.
